If you do not already have any of the following items installed and you wish to install them, you should use the Ruby In Steel ‘All-in-One’ installer:

    * Ruby
    * Rails
    * Gems
    * MySQL
    * Visual Studio 2008 (free edition)
    * .NET 3.5
    * Ruby In Steel Developer Edition

If you do not need the above items you may download one of the smaller Ruby In Steel installers in order to install the appropriate edition of Ruby In Steel into an existing copy of Visual Studio. Be sure to read the PDF installation guide supplied with the software for more guidance.

Installing Ruby (and Rails) 'All In One'

You must install Ruby and (optionally) Rails in order to use Ruby In Steel. If you want to use the all-in-one installer to install Ruby, Rails, MySQL or the free edition of Visual Studio 2008, download the All-in-One Installer which includes Ruby In Steel Developer. If you wish to install these items for use with the Text Edition, install all the items you need but do not install Ruby In Steel. Then download Ruby In Steel Text Edition and install that. Note that if you choose to install the free edition of Visual Studio 2008, you must be sure to download a VS 2008 edition of Ruby In Steel. The remaining items in the ‘all-on-one’ installer (Ruby, Rails and MySQL) may be used with any edition of Ruby In Steel.
