File name used in pnasoft.com

If you are a oldest member of pnasoft.com, and when download files in my site, you get some version file name I list below. Now I explain why I used it.

Here the list of file name I used in my pnasoft.com

• Apress Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 In VB 2008.rar -> this is the oldest file name version
• 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008.rar -> an onther file name version
• 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008@KIK.rar -> newer file name version
• 025.0102.Apre.ss.Beg.inning.A.SP.N.ET.3.5.In.V.B.20.08.rar -> yeah, newer file name version.
• 025.0102.898789876.PNA -> This is the lastest file name version in my site.
  

1. Apress Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 In VB 2008.rar. This is my first file name I used, the name tell me very clearly about what files included it. And because it save in my server (before Jan-01-2008, all files store in my server but now I removed all it, and note in all footer pages: PNASoft.com doesnot store any files on its server.) and it cannot deleted, so I name it to clearly.

Woow this time, I manager all my upload files in my server very easy.

2. 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008.rar. Time changed, my site now famous, member register my site per day increased, store my files in server become dangerous and server is always busy. In this time, you always recevied message, Opps, Server Busy, please try again ...... Did old member remember this ?

Sure, And I plan to hack my site to place my download files in free host (rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, ....). I known that, if I do that member do not happy because file upload in free host have some limited function (like: file size, file live, ....). Manage upload files in free host diffrence manage files in my server, because in my server I can create folder easy and place files in it. But when upload files in free host I have some problem to manage files.

So I changed the file name to this version (025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008.rar) -> 025 tell my the folderID that I  manage it, 0102 tell me in this folder have 102 files in it. And because upload file in free host, file can not used space in file name, so I change the space to dot (.). And now the version file name is OK for me at this time. Manage all files in my free host is OK, easy and clearly.

3. 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008@KIK.rar. One day, when check my email, I recevied an member email shared with me an unlimited host. Wow, this is a good news for me, you know that, upload file in http host,  unlimited storage and it can download direct file is ver very good. And it changed my site at this time like before, but it support download free host too.

But, why I changed file name to this version. Because, in this time my site used the User Points and User Level to know, which host you can download (included http host). But, some member cannot access http host in my site, so he/she guess the download URL from my sharing http host.

For example, I use the file name: 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008.rar and  he/she guess this file in my server is: http://www.xxxxx.com/p/f/025/025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008.rar, and he/she success. Wow, I know that, but at this time I can't not do anything.

And, how I defend these upload files,... easy, I place 4 random chars (@KIK) at the at of file and now my files in sharing host now safe. Only user have permission can download this file.

4. 4025.0102.Apre.ss.Beg.inning.A.SP.N.ET.3.5.In.V.B.20.08.rar. Add some random dot (.) in the file name ? Why ?
When upload files in free host (rapidshare, mediafire) more than 500 files in my free acount, these providers now look what my upload files. And when I used the version file name 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008.rar or 025.0102.Apress.Beginning.ASP.NET.3.5.In.VB.2008@KIK.rar upload in these free host, I think these providers have some automatic tools scan my file that this tool think this file is infringement and it automatic deleted this file.

I'm sure, for exmaple, at morning I upload file 030.0012.Wrox.Pro.Paypal.rar, wow, after upload successed, turn-off my computer go to lunch. And plan at the afternoon I update it to my site, but what happend ? when I review it again, It gone!. Check the download link (because I used the desktop tool) and see that: File deleted!..... Try again with some files and I get the same result. -> Did you get this problem ?

And the other, is that some sites used robot tools scan all files in my site and get the download link only and used it as his/her ower library (you can easy to find the library sites in google, rapidshare library is the best choice). Because my file name very clearly, it is a good information for these robot tools.

Now, to defend these upload files. I changed my file to this version by add some random dot (.) and tools now hard know what is the information of this file. And you know that 4025.0102.Apre.ss.Beg.inning.A.SP.N.ET.3.5.In.V.B.20.08.rar is know by the humman only, tools cannot know that......

5. 025.0102.898789876.PNA. The final version in my site, I think it. (But not sure....). Wow, let look the file name, it not not clearly ? Why used this ?

After download this file, make sure you changed the .PNA extension to .RAR extension.

First the file name now not clearly, these providers tools or robot tools when get the file name, it cannot tell them have good information about this file name. Sure, let look carefully, it only have a numbers and dot chars.

The opposite of this action make me hard to manage these files ? No, I have my private tool can manage it, it store a lot of information in my ower DB. The tool can make this version file name with one mouse click.

And in this file name version, I compress a compress file ? Here I explain it

a. First I compress and used the file name as version 1. And the name like: Apress Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 In VB 2008.rar (sure with the same password as you can read in the right panel when open it with WinRAR)
b. Now, compress again the file: Apress Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 In VB 2008.rar with a random password and used Encrypt file names option when compress. (The file become: 025.0102.898789876.rar) With this option when you want to view it (double click on rar file), you must enter the password first. Someone know the link, download it, but did not know the password so he/she cannot open it, and the he/she deleted this file. But if you are a member of pnasoft.com, I sure you know the random password.

About the random password of each file. Your can read the new password.

Now, if I used this file name version, I think files in my free host very safe. It only deleted by 2 way:
a. First, someone report this link is infringement copyright. -> the providers host deleted this link.
b. Second, link deleted by expried days save in free host. (For example, rapidshare deleted file after 90 days from the last download) -> I think an automatic tool deleted this link.

In next post, I used this file name version.
